Osmomat 010 Automatic Cryoscopic Osmometer
2009 marked the 30th Anniversary of Gonotec Osmometers, a company with which Gallay Medical & Scientific P/L are proud to share a long and successful history. Gonotec’s industry benchmark Osmometers have been proudly manufactured in Germany since they began instrument production back in the 1970's.
Gonotec's commitment to an outstanding level of quality throughout their business has gained them wide spread respect from osmometer users and admiration from their competitors. Today, Gonotec Osmometers continue to embody the faultless craftsmanship and pride of manufacture for which German products are recognised around the world. Gallay Medical & Scientific P/L look forward to the next decade of partnership with Gonotec Osmometers.
Gonotec Cryoscopic osmometers are designed for the measurement of molecular weight of compounds in benzene solution (approximately 40 to 50,000 Dalton). The automatic cryoscopic osmometers are also used for the determination of the total osmolality in aqueous solution.
Gallay has also published a Technical Paper covering the different types of Osmometers available, their many applications and various methods of use. To download a copy of the Technical Paper, please click here.

Usage and Application
What is an Osmometer? An osmometer can be defined as a device used for the measurement of the osmotic strength of a solution, compound or colloid.
What can an Osmometer be used for? Osmometers are useful for determining the concentration of dissolved salts or sugars in blood or urine samples. Osmometry is also useful in determining the molecular weight of unknown compounds and polymers.
