Gallay chosen to supply the ‘Rolls Royce’ of reprocessing equipment in $12m hospital expansion

A $12 MILLION expansion is under way at the Rockhampton Mater Hospital.

Mercy Health and Aged Care CEO Lynne Sheehan said the upgrade would ensure patients received the best care and service possible.

"Our engineering staff had researched new CSSD equipment over the past two years, and Gallay Medical and Scientific who distribute Swiss manufactured ‘Belimed’ products, have been awarded the contract to supply and install the new equipment.

“Our surgeons provide world class services, and it’s imperative we support them with the best reprocessing equipment available, and ‘Belimed’ is considered ‘the Rolls Royce’ of reprocessing equipment,” Ms Sheehan added.

The purchase of two new washer-disinfectors, and two new autoclaves, together with the new water treatment and air conditioning system met with new stringent Australian standards which cover the cleaning and sterilising of reusable surgical instrument. The new standard mandates automated machine washing where possible, and the use of purified water for final rinsing and steam sterilisation. “The new equipment we’re purchasing have high capacity, are more efficient, and can process a much wider range of instruments,”
