With Science Week 2014 almost here, how will you get involved?

 

 

 

 

 

 


 


Every year in August, over one million Australians celebrate the fascinating field of science and technology. From 16th – 24th August 2014 Australia’s National Science Week aims to promote and encourage interest science, engineering, technology and innovation through more than 1000 events being held across the country.

National Science Week is a great opportunity for everyone to participate in the discovery of science and learning of how the continual growth of this area is relevant in everyday life.

Some of our favourite activities planned for this year:

  •     FAB LAB ADELAIDE OPEN HOUSE
    Drop into Fab Lab Adelaide and check out the 3D printers and laser etching/cutting machines and sign up for an induction. Fab Lab Adelaide is a community inventors’ workshop and a dedicated space for small scale digital fabrication.

  • THE MICROSCOPE PROJECT
    In 2012 Flinders University decommissioned a suite of electron microscopes, The Microscope Project was conceived in response: as an opportunity to reclaim the instruments, giving them a new lease of life through the lens of creative practice.
    When:  Saturday, July 26 2014 till Sunday, September 21 2014. 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM

  • STREET SCIENCE – EXPLOSIVE FUN
    Join Science Steve and the Street Science Team as they explode on stage presenting a range of high energy science demonstrations which are sure to engage adults and kids of all ages.
    When:  Friday, August 8 2014. 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM
    Where: RNA Showgrounds (Education Pavilion)
